Introduction to Professional Policing: Examining the Evidence Base Online
You are warmly invited to the launch of an Introduction to Professional Policing: Examining the Evidence Base.
This event is specially suitable for students starting either their first or second year of study.
Dr Ian Pepper will be joined by Dr Ross Wolf and Dr Christopher O'Connor with a focus on the chapter: Police Leadership. The authors' full biographies are available here.
This second edition of Introduction to Professional Policing explores a number of the core underpinning knowledge requirements identified as themes within the ever-evolving National Policing Curriculum (NPC) and Police Constable Entry Routes (PCER), while also informing those embarking on leadership development.
With contributions from the US, Canada and the UK, it has been recently reviewed and significantly updated in line with the dynamic and ongoing demands faced by operational policing and therefore the associated knowledge requirements for policing education and training. It includes new chapters on community and neighbourhood policing, problem solving and volunteers in policing.
A precision-crafted resource for academic policing discourse. This volume presents a rigorous and reflexive examination of policing practice through an evidence-based lens, designed to provoke thoughtful dialogue among experienced educators and researchers. It situates professional policing within the broader socio-political terrain, integrating cutting-edge studies with foundational theory and practice.
